Darren A. Flynn is an award-nominated singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland. His sound covers a spectrum of classic Americana from folky introspection right thru to good old fashioned rock n roll. “Big Blue Moon”, his latest single, is available on all streaming platforms now. It draws on influences from the likes of old-school Country and Bluegrass music (such as the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Dillards and even a little bit of Sweetheart of the Rodeo-era Byrds) and has an energetic sound somewhere towards the poppier end of the turf occupied by the likes of Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers and The National Parks. The song was written, produced and recorded by Darren, mixed by Alan Gregson (famous for producing the seminal “Brimful of Asha” by Cornershop), and features guest banjo playing by the incredible Johnny Butten - recognized by Guinness World Records as the Worlds Fastest Banjo Player – who has played with the likes of Hayseed Dixie, Oakridge Boys and Albert Lee, among others. His first album, with the band Moo, sold close to five figures independently. He has performed at myriad Irish festivals such as: The Electric Picnic, Kilkenny Roots Festival, Sligo Live, Doolin Folk Festival As well as at International Music Festivals: Feito a Man Festival, Santiago De Compostela (Spain), Focus Ireland Festival, Noia (Spain) He has performed live on National Irish Television (RTE 1), recorded sessions for National Irish Radio (RTE Radio 1) With his former band Mongrel State he released the album “Mestizo” produced by Gavin Glass (worked with Billy Bragg, Joe Jackson, John Grant). The album was nominated for the Choice Music Award (the Irish equivalent of the Mercury music award).
